VegFest Northwest Comes to Portland This October
VegFest comes to Portland Convention Center October 22. The veggies are local, the speakers are well educated, the leather is absent.

Portland VegFest, Oregon's original health food and lifestyle event, is coming to the Oregon Convention Center on October 22nd-23rd, from 10AM to 6PM. The expected attendance rate is 7,000 people and all of the food products being sampled and sold will be vegan. Want a ticket to VegFest?
You can buy one at the door for $9 single day, $16 for both days, and students and seniors over 65 are $6 with a valid ID. Children 12 and under are free. There is also a 1$ off coupon regular admission, which can be found on the VegFest website. In addition to the over 160 vendors featuring food producers, restaurants, and other plant-based shops from both locally and around the country, the exhibit hall will feature a fashion and beauty stage and fitness stage, highlighting local cruelty-free clothing stores, skin care product lines, and fitness instructors ranging from yoga to barre to tai chi.

VegFest also features key speakers from around the country. The keynote speaker for Saturday morning will be founder and president of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine Dr. Neal Barnard, who will remark on preventing and treating obesity and diabetes with a plant-based diet.
"This shift we are seeing to a more plant-based diet and lifestyle is evident throughout the world, and seemingly inevitable given the indisputable benefits for the planet and sustainability, people's health, and animals. Whether you are a devoted vegan or just interested in adding a few more veggies into your week, VegFest brings all the plant-based goodness together in one place," Jaclyn Leeds, executive director of Northwest VEG.VegFest will also feature screenings of two films that have premiered just recently: "Vegan: Everday Stories," a project of Northwest VEG, the 501(c)3 that hosts Portland VegFest, explores the lives of four remarkably different people who share a common thread - they're all vegan; "Called to Rescue" focuses on farm sanctuaries in the US. The weekend will also include a panel discussion from some of the sanctuary owners featured in the film as well as other local sanctuaries, for a discussion on what farm animal rescue work really entails the highs and the lows.
Among the many speakers and chef demos that weekend, VegFest will also feature an expert in humane investing, advising individuals on how to invest their money in companies that mirror their values.
