The Abington School District has been recognized by a state educational association for its commitment to visual arts education.

ABINGTON, PA — A state educational group is recognizing the Abington School District for its commitment to visual arts education.
The Pennsylvania Arts Education Association has named Abington as an 'Outstanding Visual Arts Community' for 2021.
The district announced the accolade on its website Tuesday.

According to the district, those receiving this endorsement from the PAEA demonstrate the importance of their visual arts programs with rigorous and inclusive programs, highly accessible programs and highly visible programs.
Abington says its students get to experience the "importance of a well-rounded education with opportunities to engage in arts education courses at all grade levels, K-12."

The district says these opportunities afforded to students help prepare them with "visual literacy," which the PAEA says constitutes the new thinking and learning skills of a digital age and a creative economy, and represents the various types of cognitive skills that young people will need in order to compete in a global workforce.
