Police Standoff Ends in Glenside
One man taken to Abington Memorial Hospital for a mental health evaluation
Police took an unidentified man into custody following a standoff in Glenside late Monday night.
Deputy Chief Michael Webb of the Abington Police Department said the man had been taken to Abington Memorial Hospital for a mental health evaluation after one of the department's crisis negotiators spoke to him for about 60 to 90 minutes and convinced him to surrender to the police that had surrounded the house on the 2500 block of Geneva Avenue.
The man was armed with a handgun, Webb said.

Webb said police went to the location and surrounded it after "a concerned family member" had contacted them. The police department has about six to seven police officers who are trained to negotiate in crisis situations, according to Webb.
No shots were fired and nobody was injured, Webb said. Nobody else was in the home at the time of the standoff.
