ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — The Briar Bush Nature Center has made some upgrades that were celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week after a 10-year project finally came to fruition.

Abington Township officials held the ceremony at the Briar Bush Nature Center at 1212 Edge Hill Road to celebrate a series of "major improvements" designed to enhance accessibility, education, and the overall visitor experience.

The project included streetscape upgrades, new ADA-accessible trails and sidewalks, a brand-new butterfly house, and inviting gathering spaces for the community to enjoy.

"As three generations of my family have enjoyed Briar Bush Nature Center for decades, it was an honor to take part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for their improvement and accessibility project that has, from concept to completion, spanned 10 years of collaborative work by Abington Township Departments, Briar Bush, and the DCNR," State Rep. Ben Sanchez said. "These noteworthy improvements create a new soft gathering pad outside their brand-new pavilion and an accessible trail that leads through their beautiful setting through to their butterfly enclosure. Briar Bush Nature Center is a true treasure in our community, and we are lucky to have it so close to home. Be sure to check everything out next time you’re there."
