Cafe Con Pan and Ardsley Day, This Week in Abington

Check out a few events happening in Abington this week.

  • The Abington School Board will meet Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. in the district’s administration building on Highland Avenue. 

 

  • On Tuesday, June 25 the Briar Bush Nature Center, as part of its Great Escape program, will organize a trip to the Tookany Tacony Frankford Watershed followed by a trip to a regional sewage treatment plant … to find out where the water goes when you flush. The tour, which runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., will be led by Philadelphia Water Department Guide Dottie Baumgarten. Cost is $25.

 

  • On Thursday, June 27, the Abington Township Parks and Recreation Department, in conjunction with PECO, will host Café Con Pan, a Latin jazz and salsa band, as part of the Abington Art Center’s Summer Concert Series. The show runs from 7 to 9 p.m. and will be held rain or shine. A $5 donation is requested. For more information, click here.

  • On Thursday, June 27, the Abington Library will hold a presentation and discussion with Phillip Harris and Joan Harris, co-authors of the book “The Myths of Standardized Tests: Why they don’t tell you what you think they do.” The event will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Shorday Room in the library.   • Ardsley Community Day will be held Saturday, June 29 from 2 to 7 p.m. The successful event is in its second year. This year’s event will include a car show and a new “vendors village.” Ardsley Community Day will be held at Ardsley Park, at Maple and Jefferson avenues.
