Eastern Montco DUI Task Force Will Conduct Sobriety Checkpoints Next Two Weekends

The Eastern Montgomery County DUI Task Force will conduct sobriety checkpoints this weekend in Cheltenham, and next weekend in Springfield.

EASTERN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Impaired drivers are warned: area police will be out and about this weekend conducting sobriety checkpoints on local roadways.

Members of the Eastern Montgomery County DUI Task Force, which is comprised of nine local municipal police agencies, will be conducting checkpoint operations and roving DUI enforcement patrols in Cheltenham Township the weekend of Sept. 17 and in nearby Springfield Township the following weekend beginning on Sept. 24.

Police officers will be looking for drivers who are under the influence of alcohol or other substances, as well as enforcing general vehicle code statutes.

The task force is made up of officers with the following police departments: Abington Township, Cheltenham Township, Jenkintown Borough, Lower Moreland Township, Montgomery Township, Springfield Township, Upper Dublin Township, Upper Moreland Township and Whitemarsh Township.

Motorists can expect to experience brief detainment during the checkpoints, the exact locations of which were not given by police.
