An Abington High School Senior Studying Electrical Technology Named Student Of The Month
Abington's Mario D'Alessio, a high school senior, was chosen as the Student of the Month at the Eastern Center for Arts and Technology.

ABINGTON, PA — A local high school senior who attends a career readiness program at the Eastern Center for Arts and Technology in Willow Grove has been named Eastern's Student of the Month for January.
Mario D'Alessio is being recognized for his "outstanding work" in Eastern's Electrical Technology program.
"Mario is a positive person who puts all his effort into all of the projects he is working on," Gary Felmey, electrical technology instructor at Eastern Center for Arts and Technology, said in a statement. "He is a leader in my class and he never hesitates to help others. His attitude and aptitude will take him far in college and his career."

D'Alessio first visited Eastern during an eighth-grade tour organized by Abington Junior High School, and two years later he revisited Eastern where he ended up meeting Felmey, according to the school.
D'Alessio, whose father also graduated from the Electrical Technology program at Eastern, plans to eventually pursue further electrical education at Penn College of Technology while also eyeing up a work apprenticeship.

This past summer, D'Alessio was selected by Felmey as a paid intern, during which he spent 32 hours per week assisting with electrical upgrades and projects throughout Eastern's headquarters.
In June, he was honored with the Straight A Award during Eastern's Awards Night, according to the school.
D'Alessio has also earned industry-standard certifications, such as OSHA 10, Ladder Safety Training, and S/P2 Safety, according to Eastern.
When not in school, D'Alessio enjoys volunteering at Tiger Schulmann's Mixed Martial Art in Abington, where he has also been a student since he was in the sixth grade.
The Student of the Month award is jointly sponsored by Eastern's faculty, joint operating committee, and the Willow Grove Rotary Club.
Ten students each year are selected as recipients.
