FBI Releases Video of TD Bank Robbery

The Philadelphia Division of the FBI released video of a March 23 TD Bank robbery in the 2900 block of Moreland Road in Abington. 

The video shows a gunman shooting a glass door and dragging an employee to the rear of the bank. 

No one was seriously injured.

The suspect, who was wearing a hooded, zip-up sweatshirt and a black mask, fled in a mid-size black SUV with chrome wheels; the first three letters of the license plate may be “ERC.” The SUV left heading southbound on Fitzwatertown Road and made a right onto Oklahoma Road. The vehicle may have been occupied by a second person, police said, and may have been parked on Carnation, Oklahoma or in the entrance to the Twin Brooks townshouses shortly before the robbery.

Police said the man who attempted to rob the TD Bank in the 2900 block of Moreland Road early Saturday morning fired off two shots before fleeing.

According to police, the man, described as black, dressed in all black, wearing a mask and carrying a black handgun, accosted two employees of TD bank at 6:45 a.m. as the employees were arriving at work and preparing to open the bank. As one of the employees unlocked the door, the man rushed up and attempted to enter. The employees managed to lock the door but the gunman fired a shot, shattering the door, police said.

The individual then stepped through the broken glass and grabbed an employee, dragging him to the back of the bank, police said; the other employee escaped through a rear door.

The individual then fired another shot in the bank and threatened the employee; the gunman then escaped through the rear of the bank without getting any money.

Both employees suffered minor injuries and did not require medical attention; there were no customers in the bank.
