Jenkintown Road Will Close For Five Months Beginning January 3 For Water Main Installation

AQUA Pennsylvania will be replacing a water main along Jenkintown Road in Abington Township beginning Jan. 3. Work to last five months.

ABINGTON, PA — Local officials have announced a months-long road closure in the township that will begin just after the New Year.

A portion of Jenkintown Road between Meetinghouse Road and Forrest Avenue will be closed on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning Jan. 3 while crews with AQUA Pennsylvania work on a water main installation.

The road is expected to be closed intermittently during a five-month period as the work takes place.

The portion of the road affected by the work sits just west of Alvathorpe Park.

Abington Township officials also announced that water mains will be replaced on Fisher Road, Holmecrest Road and Cypress Avenue, and that anticipated completion of that work is May 30, 2022.

That work will also be done by crews with AQUA Pennsylvania, a water utility that serves many communities throughout Montgomery County and beyond.
