Penn State Abington Hires Christine Cicio As New Director Of Continuing Education

Christine Cicio, formerly of Rutgers University, recently began as the new director of continuing education at Penn State's Abington campus.

ABINGTON, PA — Penn State Abington recently announced it had hired a new director of continuing education.

Christine Cicio, who formerly served on the faculty at Rutgers University in New Jersey, started her position on Sept. 20, according to Penn State's Abington campus.

Cicio, who worked as a senior program coordinator in the Division of Continuing Studies at the Center for Government Services at Rutgers, says she is looking forward to "strengthening and expanding our continuing education offerings and providing lifelong learning opportunities to all students.

"I am honored and excited to join the Penn State Abington team as the next director of Continuing Education," Cicio said in a statement. "I would like to thank Chancellor Margo DelliCarpini, as well as the search committee chaired by Tina Vance-Knight, for their assistance during the process."

During her time at Rutgers, Cicio developed and maintained relationships with a variety of external agencies and stakeholders, including different education advisory committees, government agencies and associations, according to a bio provided by Penn State Abington.

"She is a data-driven manager with a demonstrated history of working in continuing education, community engagement and program development," Penn State Abington wrote in a community announcement. "Cicio is skilled in strengths-based leadership and relationship-building and specializes in evolving existing programs, identifying strategic opportunities and implementing new initiatives."

Before she joined Rutgers, Cicio worked as the community education coordinator at Prevent Child Abuse - NJ, where she developed and delivered research-based workshops and programs to various groups across the state of New Jersey, according to Penn State Abington.

Cicio has a bachelor's degree in sociology and criminal justice and a master's degree in public administration, both of which she obtained from Rutgers.
