Route 73, Greenwood Avenue Closing For 7 Months

CHELTENHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — Sections of two key township roads will be closed for seven months starting on Wednesday, PennDOT said.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said that roadway construction will close westbound Route 73 (Church Road) and southbound Greenwood Avenue through July 2026.

The roadwork falls under a $10.8 million project to improve traffic flow and safety on Route 73 (Church Road) at the Greenwood Avenue and Rices Mill Road intersections.

Drivers are advised of the following travel restrictions:

• Wednesday, Oct. 15, through Thursday, July 2, 2026, westbound Route 73 (Church Road) will be closed and detoured 24/7 between Rices Mill Road and the Curtis Arboretum entrance. During the closure, drivers will be directed to use Washington Lane, Route 309 (Cheltenham Avenue), Ogontz Avenue, and Easton Road.
• Wednesday, Oct. 15, through Thursday, July 2, 2026, southbound Greenwood Avenue will be closed and detoured 24/7 between Spruce Lane and Barker Road. During the closure, drivers will be directed to use Township Line Road, Washington Lane, Route 309 (Cheltenham Avenue), and Ogontz Avenue.

Drivers should allow extra time when traveling near the work areas because backups and delays will occur.

All scheduled activities are weather-dependent.
