'Millie' visits Abington through the weekend
The Abington Senior High School will put on “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” a musical about a woman who moves from Kansas to New York City to pursue a career in show business. Millie decides to marry her rich boss, falls for someone poor and her boss falls for Millie’s friend.
There's more to it than that, but that's the basics.

“It’s a comedy and it’s really dance-heavy — dance-heavy with tap numbers,” director and high school teacher Tim Myers said. “Luckily, we have a number of students with tap experiences, but others are learning.”
Myers has been involved in musicals at the high school for eight years, and has co-directed the play for the past five.

“Being involved in the production is wonderful,” Myers said. “It’s hard work, but when you see the students coming together … there’s no question that you want to keep going. They’re incredibly dedicated.”
