What's Mad Mex's Most Popular Dish?

They dish up their fair share of fajitas, burritos and enchiladas, but there is only one dish that takes the top spot.

Mad Mex restaurant, located at 2862 W. Moreland Road, in Willow Grove, might be one of Abington Township's best kept secrets. When you roll up to its oversized wooden doors, it might be hard to tell even where to get in. However, a pull on the giant brass cross symbol will lead you to a wide variety of Mexican dishes.

Dave Brinlee, manager of the location, said it is one dish that keeps the guests coming in. 

"Fish tacos," Brinlee said is his most popular dish. "The grilled mahi sell more, but we also make a fried tilapia."

Grilled mahi fish tacos sell for $14, while the fried tilapia is $12.

Brinlee said the average price for dishes range from $9 to $14.

On Monday through Friday, many guests show up for the happy hour from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. During those hours, the drafts are half off, as are the wings. 

"All of our house margaritas are served at a discount," said Brinlee. "Those that usually range $5, $8, and $10 are knocked down to $3, $5, and $7."

The resturaunt repeats a Happy Hour from 10 p.m. to midnight, during which the famed 22-ounce "Big Azz Margarita" is up for just $7.
