Elon Musk To Pay PA Voters $1M A Day To Sign 'Constitution Pledge'
Voters who sign a "pledge to the Constitution" will be paid by Musk, while some have become millionaires.

PENNSYLVANIA — Billionaire Elon Musk is offering $1 million a day in payments to voters in certain swing states who sign a "pledge to the Constitution" put together by his political action committee.
Payments are specifically targeting citizens in Pennsylvania, but are also being sent to voters in Georgia, Nevada, Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, and North Carolina.
The move has raised alarms over the potential illegal nature of the payments and again brought to the forefront questions about the outsized influence, if not outright control, of the mega-wealthy on American democracy.

Musk, the owner of SpaceX and Tesla and the world's richest man, has already given away numerous $1 million prizes. All individuals who sign the pledge are entered into a lottery, and one person a day wins the grand prize.
Musk is also paying supporters $47 for each registered voter in swing states they get to sign the pledge, which contains no details but only the phrase "Petition in Favor of Free Speech and the Right to Bear Arms."

Authorities in Pennsylvania are considering investigating Musk, and Gov. Josh Shapiro has encouraged law enforcement to look at the situation.
"I think there are real questions with how he is spending money in this race, how the dark money is flowing...it is deeply concerning," Shapiro, the state's former attorney general, told NBC's Meet the Press Sunday.
Some legal analysts have gone farther and said it's a plain violation of election law.

"Though maybe some of the other things Musk was doing were of murky legality, this one is clearly illegal," wrote Hugo Lowell for the popular Election Law Blog, citing election code that states "Whoever...pays or offers to pay or accepts payment either for registration to vote or for voting shall be fined not more than $10,000 or imprisoned not more than five years, or both…"
Musk's payouts of $1 million were given out to lottery winners in Pennsylvania on Saturday and Sunday. Another Pennsylvania millionaire will be crowned Monday, and then one petition signer from one of any of the swing states will be selected each day from Oct. 22 to Nov. 5.
Both Trump and Musk, along with JD Vance, campaigned in the Philadelphia suburbs over the past several days, with Trump visiting Montgomery and Bucks counties and Musk holding town hall style rallies in Oaks and Ridley.
