Will PA Have A White Christmas? Here’s What The Old Farmer’s Almanac Predicts

White Christmases are rare but not unheard of in Pennsylvania. Here's what the Almanac has to say about the 2025 holiday season.

Songs, poems, children’s stories and holiday movies relive the joy of a white Christmas, but how likely is it that Pennsylvanians will wake up to a snow-covered landscape on Christmas morning?

“While we all know that nature can be unpredictable, the odds are that the snow will fall mainly in the Central region of the U.S.” the almanac’s website reads. “According to The 2026 Old Farmer’s Almanac, most of the United States will be seeing a milder, gentler winter than average.”

Despite that, the Old Farmer’s Almanac said in a newly released forecast that there is a chance of a White Christmas in nearly all of Pennsylvania. The region as a whole is expected to see some snow.

However, the greater Philadelphia is the exception, as the almanac has most of the southeastern corner of the state in the "not a White Christmas" category.

The Delaware Valley rarely experiences a White Christmas, with no measurable snowfall on the ground on Christmas morning since 2009, according to StormFax, and trace amounts in just three years since 1981.
