Press release for Patch by Karen Palmer.
American Express and Ambler Main Street have teamed up to promote Small Business Saturday on November 30. Member businesses of Ambler Main Street are offering in-store specials that will be promoted vigorously by Ambler Main Street.
"Shop owners are very excited about this opportunity to have a national and local marketing team," said Allison Wolf, co-president of Ambler Main Street. "Ambler Main Street will host refreshments for shoppers from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Ambler Theater annex, courtesy of Costa’s Deli and the theater."
A recent proclamation from Mayor Bud Wahl set the tone for the kick-off of the holiday shopping season as he urged shoppers to "buy local and keep shopping dollars in the community."
"We are thrilled to offer free parking for the entire day, courtesy of American Express and local business EMDO Enterprises” said Wahl. "Small businesses are the heart and soul of our economy, unlike large retailers, owners of small businesses truly care about satisfying their customers. Our business owners opened shop to cater to the entire shopping experience and to please their customers – it’s not about satisfying shareholders or the bottom line."
Tony Laguda Formal Wear will be celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2014.
"We are a perfect example of how investing in a small business is a positive and beneficial thing. We pride ourselves on impeccable customer service in addition to offering the finishing touches that are so often lost sight of with chain retailers," said Frank Laguda, owner of the shop where generations have been fitted for their tuxedos.
"Small businesses are all about relationships," said Brett Rosenthal, owner of Generation T, an online clothing company that recently opened a store in Ambler in order to bring fun clothing to his hometown. "Our customers love the experience of patronizing a small shop located in a community. We get to know them, what they like and what they want and we can suggest items for them that are both in the store and outside the store with our collection of over 60,000 T-shirts. You can’t get this service in a big box store."
Jeanne Cooke, owner of Main Street Vintage, said, "My small business in Ambler has given me the gift of loving what I do, while customers that I see each week become good friends. We all love Ambler and supporting the community."
In-store promotions are posted on the Ambler Main Street website at http://www.amblermainstreet.org and on its Facebook page.
Ambler Main Street partners with member merchants to promote their businesses year-round.
