Can You Hear Whitpain Residents Now?: No Cell Phone Tower
New Cingular Wireless has filed a variance request in Whitpain Township to construct an 80-foot cell phone tower at Blue Bell Country Club.

Whitpain Township residents made their message loud and clear at a recent supervisors meeting: No cell phone tower at Blue Bell Country Club.
New Cingular Wireless wants to erect an 80-foot-tall cell phone tower on the property of the club near DeKalb Pike and Morris Road, per Montgomery News. It has applied for a variance and is set to go before the zoning hearing board.
A variance approved by the zoning hearing board is needed because township regulations limit the height of such a tower to 40 feet, per the article.
Variances are also being asked to allow for 17- and 26-foot setbacks at the intersection over the required 200-foot buffer, per the report.
The zoning hearing board meets Dec. 19.
One resident asked the board, "Are we going to put up billboards (too)? Where do we draw the line?"
