Fire Hydrant Dislodged on Oak Street

The driver told police that as he was attempting to make a left turn from Oak Street onto Railroad Avenue during the afternoon of Feb. 21, the rear wheel of the trailer made contact with a fire hydrant

According to a report from the Whitpain Township Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Oak Street at 3:40 p.m. for a report of a hit-and-run by a tractor trailer. Upon arrival, police discovered that the driver has actually stopped his vehicle at the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Mount Pleasant Avenue.

The driver told police that as he was attempting to make a left turn from Oak Street onto Railroad Avenue, the rear wheel of the trailer made contact with a fire hydrant in front of 227 Oak Street, forcing it to become dislodged.

The Ambler Borough Water Department was notified, and arrived a short time later to make repairs.
