Gateway Signage, Lighting Ordinance Changes Given OK for Ambler Savings Bank Project

Ambler Savings Bank will be constructing a new 28,000-square-foot, three-story headquarters at East Butler Pike and Lindenwold Avenue, near Race Street.

Ambler Borough Council voted 7-0 this week to amend the zoning code to allow changes related to lighting, entrances and signage in the redevelopment of Ambler Savings Bank at Butler Pike and Lindenwold Avenue.
With the amendment, Ambler Savings Bank will now take the gateway digital sign at the intersection and install it flush to the exterior wall of its new building facing Lindenwold Avenue.
The amendment also allows Ambler Savings Bank to not have a corner entrance, to allow spillage of lighting onto an adjacent borough parking lot and allow a handicap ramp between the building and curbface.
A new parking lot will be located behind the bank, adjacent to the borough lot. Light poles and lights will be placed along the boundary of the two properties, resulting in a small amount of spillage from downlights onto the lot.
The gateway sign, which was up for debate to allow two signs on the outside of the bank versus one, was eventually approved for one sign face mounted flush on the bank building. The maximum area of the sign will not exceed 65 square feet and be mounted no higher than 17 feet.
The new development of the bank will take it out of a floodplain and add more floors and office space.
