NaNoWriMo, Hayrides at Prophecy Creek Park, Making an 'Impact' This Weekend

What are you doing this weekend?

"Operation Safe Trick-or-Treat"

What: The Criminal Justice Society at Temple University Ambler will host the event, designed to provide area children and parents with a safe and fun atmosphere for Halloween trick-or-treating. 

When/Where: Friday at 6 p.m. at Temple University Ambler, 580 Meetinghouse Road, Upper Dublin.

Cost: Free

Hayrides at Prophecy Creek Park

What: Whitpain Township Parks and Recreation hosts a hayride event featuring:  
  • Spooky stories told by Bill Wood
  • Bonfire
  • Hot apple cider and ginger snaps
  • Free trick-or-treat bag for elementary school children while supplies last
  • Hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages, soda, and hot chocolate for sale
  • $10 Pumpkin Patch: For $10 you get to take home a pumpkin AND gift certificate(s) valued between $15-$100. Participating businesses include restaurants, gyms/fitness studios, salons, and many more! Click here for full list of contributors and prizes.
Where/When: Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m. at Prophecy Creek Park, 250 W. Skippack Pike, Whitpain.

Cost: $7 per person, $4 for ages three to fifth grade, free to 2 and under

Ambler Makes an Impact

What: As part of his Senior Project, Justin Miles has arranged a Community Collection Drive in conjunction with Impact Thrift Stores. Bring your gently-used clothing, shoes, books, electronics, and furniture to the parking lot next to the church where the collection will be held.

When/Where: Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Parish, 259 Forest Ave., Ambler

Cost: Free

NaNoWriMo

What: Young Writers National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) Kickoff and informational meeting for teens aged 13 to 17 on the group, setting goals, tracking word count, holding "write-ins" and more.

When/Where: Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Wissahickon Valley Public Library in Blue Bell.

Cost: Free, but registration requested.
