P.J. Whelihan's Security Guard Allegedly Assaults Ex-Girlfriend's Friend, Police Say

Jason Schmeltzer, 26, of Philadelphia, allegedly punched a male friend of the ex-girlfriend he was attempting to eject from the Blue Bell bar, police said.

A security guard at P.J. Whelihan's in Blue Bell has been arrested and charged with assault and other criminal offenses after punching out a male friend of his ex-girlfriend, Whitpain Township Police said.
Jason Schmeltzer, 26, of the 9000 block of Ridge Avenue, Philadelphia, faces charges of simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct after he allegedly struck a patron of the bar on Oct. 13, police said.
Schmeltzer was working that morning at 1:44, when an ex-girlfriend came into the bar with some friends and took a seat at the bar, police said.
Schmeltzer proceeded to attempt to escort her from the bar, but her friends intervened, police said. At that point, police said Schmeltzer allegedly punched one of the men in the face, causing injury.
The victim was checked by Second Alarmer's Rescue Squad, but he refused treatment, police said.
