Three Teens Charged in $1,475 Electronics Theft, Police Say

Whitpain Township Police have arrested and charged three area teenagers with the alleged theft of electronics from a vehicle on the 100 block of Cambronne Circle.
Police said Tyalif Grimes, 19, of the 200 block of W. Maple Avenue, Whitpain; Saleem Tate, 18, of the 1000 block of East Avenue in Penllyn; and Ryan Craven, 19, of the 700 block of Boehms Church Road, were arrested for theft and receiving stolen property, police said, for the alleged involvement in the Aug. 23 incident.
Police received a report Aug. 23 of items stolen from a car on Cambronne Circle, which included a backpack containing an HTC cell phone, an Apple iPad, an Amazon Kindle and an iPod Nano. All items were valued at $1,475, police said.
Police were able to determine the use of the stolen cell phone on the 200 block of Maple Avenue in West Ambler, Whitpain, police said. Police found the phone, along with a second stolen phone and the backpack in a Dumpster behind the 7-Eleven on Bethlehem Pike in Ambler.
As a result of an investigation, warrants were issued for Grimes, Tate and Craven, police said.
On Sept. 17, police served search warrants on the alleged thieves' homes. Police found Tate and Craven seated in a car in front of Tate's home, and allegedly found marijuana in the car, police said.
Craven was cited for disorderly conduct for marijuana possession, police said.
Craven and Tate were arraigned before District Judge John Kessler, who set bail at $5,000 unsecured for each teenager, police said. Craven and Tate were later released, police said.
On Sept. 21, Grimes was taken into custody on the warrant by Upper Providence Township Police, police said. Grimes was arraigned by District Judge Harold Borek in Lansdale, who set bail at $5,000 unsecured.
