Wissahickon Among Top High Schools In PA: U.S. News

The rankings evaluated schools from around the country on college preparedness, helping underserved communities, AP classes, and more.

AMBLER, PA — Wissahickon High School has been named one of the top high schools in Pennsylvania, according to a new ranking from U.S. News and World Report.

The 2025-2026 Best High School Rankings, released Tuesday, evaluated nearly 24,000 public high schools from around the nation, and ranked some 18,000 of them.

Wissahickon was ranked 21st overall in Pennsylvania, out of 741 total high schools that were evaluated. It also placed 701st nationally out of the roughly 18,000 that were ranked, placing it in a top percentile.

That was good enough for third in Montgomery County, trailing only Lower Merion and Harriton high schools.

Schools were evaluated on how effectively they serve all students, including underserved populations, with college readiness specifically measured through student participation and performance on Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams.

The rankings consider curriculum breadth and overall student outcomes as well. U.S. News worked with RTI International, a global research firm, to implement the comprehensive ranking methodology, using the most current data from the 2022-2023 school year.

The rankings include specialized STEM and charter rankings alongside the traditional state, district and metro area categories.
