11 Lower Merion Student Athletes Sign Letters Of Intent
Six Lower Merion and five Harriton high school student athletes have signed national letters of intent to play their sports in college.
LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Nearly a dozen student athletes from the Lower Merion School District have signed national letters of intent, affirming their commitment to playing their respective sports at the collegiate level.

Lower Merion High School

- Henry Bard will be attending Duke University to play lacrosse. He has earned both All-State and All-League honors as well as both MVP and Defensive MVP awards within the Lower Merion team. Bard is also a member of the Aces' varsity basketball team.
- Macy Bronte will be attending George Washington University to join the crew team. Bronte, who serves as captain for Lower Merion, has earned a silver medal at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta. She is also a member of the National Honor Society.
- Caroline Burchette will be attending Boston University for crew. Through her years with the Aces, Burchette has earned the Best Boat Award twice and has finished in either first or second place in the following races: Scholastic National Championship, Stotesbury Regatta, City Championship, Head of the Schuylkill and the Virtual Mid-Atlantic Championship. She is also a member of Lower Merion's volleyball team.
- Annie Cloud will be attending Stanford University for crew. During her time at Lower Merion, Cloud has twice earned the Best Boat Award along with the Hammer Award and Tom McGovern Award. Cloud has finished in either first or second place in the following races: Scholastic National Championship, Stotesbury Regatta, City Championship, Head of the Schuylkill, the Virtual Mid-Atlantic Championships and the Indoor National Championship. She is also a member of the USRowing Scholastic Honor Roll.
- Emma Cloud will be attending Syracuse University for crew. Cloud has earned a Best Boat Award along with the Hammer Award. She is also serves as captain for the varsity basketball team.
- Demetrius Lilley will be attending Penn State University to play basketball. Lilley has earned All-League and All-State honors while helping lead the Aces to a District title and advance to the state semi-finals.
Harriton High School
- Annie Aspesi will be attending Tufts University to play basketball. Aspesi is a four-year member of the varsity basketball, lacrosse and soccer teams. She earned First-Team All-Central League and All-Main Line honors in her sophomore and junior years.
- Grace Dwyer will be attending Cornell University where she will be playing ice hockey and lacrosse. Dwyer is a two-time bronze medal winner at USA Hockey Nationals and earned a spot on the U18 National Team. She has garnered Second Team All-Main Line, All-Central League Honorable Mention and All-Philly Third Team honors for lacrosse and was a member of the most recent state championship winning team. Dwyer has also earned an All-Central League Honor Mention nod for field hockey.
- Julia Karten will be attending the University of Southern California for rowing. Karten was elected Whitemarsh Boat Club's team captain and earned Harriton's Most Outstanding Novice Award. She placed ninth at the 2021 USRowing Youth National Regatta, third at the 2021 USRowing Summer National Regatta and was named a USRowing Honor Roll Recipient for the 2021-2022 season.
- Rachel Kolton will be attending American University for lacrosse. She has earned an All-Central League Honorable Mention designation as a member of the Harriton lacrosse team.
- Josh Smith will be attending Dickinson College to play lacrosse. Smith is a three-year captain of the varsity team and was named Harriton's 2021 Offensive MVP. During the 2021 season, he was named to the All-Central League Honorable Mention team.
