Aces Win State Basketball Title Against Rival Chester
Lower Merion beat two-time defending champion Chester 63-47 to win the PIAA Class AAAA state basketball title on Saturday night.

The Lower Merion High School boys' basketball team took down rival Chester on Saturday night to win the PIAA Class AAAA state basketball title, according to reports from the PIAA and AcesHoops.com.
The Aces beat the two-time reigning championship team 63-47, bringing home their first state title since 2006. In 2012, Lower Merion also played Chester in the finals, losing to the Clippers 59-33.
“Composure was important. Believing we could win was important,” Aces head coach Gregg Downer told Patch blogger Mike Griffith.

This year, the Aces finished their season 30-3—a tie for the best record in program history, Aces Hoops reports.
"This was serious history in the making and likely the single greatest victory in the history of our proud program," Aces Hoops writes.
