Last August, Bed Bath & Beyond officials said the chain would close about 150 of its more than 900 locations nationwide and cut its workforce by 20 percent, as it sought to climb out of its financial hole. The company has defaulted on some loans, and it reportedly is looking at restructuring its debt in bankruptcy court.

Bed Bath & Beyond has slowly rolled out dozens of stores that have closed or that the retailer plans to shutter.

The company has struggled to find a buyer in bankruptcy so far, so Bed Bath & Beyond may file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection without a bidder for its assets, Bloomberg reported Friday.

Bed Bath & Beyond has made massive job cuts in recent years, reducing the workforce from 65,000 in 2018 to 32,000 as of March, according to Macrotrends data.
