Fire Chief: Penn Wynne Fire Started In Dishwasher

An early morning fire causes $85,000 in damage to a Lower Merion home.

No one was injured Thursday in an early morning kitchen fire in Penn Wynne.

The one person home at the time of the fire was able to get out unharmed, according to fire officials.

Penn Wynne and Narberth fire companies and the Lower Merion Fire Department responded to the fire call on the 1400 block of Greywall Lane that came in at 4:39 a.m.

Lower Merion Fire Chief Charles McGarvey said the fire started in the dishwasher.

McGarvey said there was $85,000 worth of damage to the kitchen, including smoke damage throughout the house.

The fire is considered to be accidental.
