She died at Jefferson, according to authorities. The Philadelphia Medical Examiner's Office said she died "as a result of complications of inhalation of products of combustion" and her death was ruled an accident.
Police said Spada was known to smoke while on her couch, and said preliminary findings show she fell asleep while smoking on her couch Saturday morning. The fire's cause has been deemed accidental based on the preliminary findings.
No one else was hurt, police said.
Three other units at the apartment complex were also damaged, and police said the displaced residents were being given support by the Red Cross.
Crews were at the scene until about 6 a.m., according to the Brookline Fire Company.
