Haverford Track, Field Athletes Earn Gold, Silver At District I Champs
Several track and field athletes from Haverford High School took home gold in the District I Championships this weekend.
HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — Haverford High School's student athletes had a strong showing this weekend at the PIAA District I Championships at Coatesville High School, with some being dubbed district champions themselves.
Athletes Olivia Cieslak, Sydney Jones, and Mollie Carpenter all took home gold in their events at the district meet.
Cieslak won both the 800 and 1600 meter runs, with times of 2:08.38 and 4:51.55 to earn the champion title.

Jones won the high jump, clearing 5 feet 5 inches.
And Carpenter heaved her way to a district champion title in the discus, with a throw of 123.01.

Carpenter earned silver in the shot put with a throw of 39-11.75.
Patrick Lawson earned two silvers in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs, finishing in 4:16.76 and 9:17.00.
Aubrey Leneweaver also earned two silver medals in the hurdles, coming in at 14.23 in the 100 meter hurdles and 43.34 in the 300 meter hurdles.

- Ryan Dankanis — 18th place, 1600 meter run, 5:20.83
- Camryn McGeehan — 17th place, 3200 meter run, 11:25.18
- Kayla Elliott — 9th place, high jump, 5 feet 1 inch
- Abigail DeFruscio — 7th place, discus, 108-09.00; 10th place, javelin, 111-05.00
- Lucy Filkin — 9th place, discus, 105-06.00; 16the place, shot put, 31-06.50
- Gabriel Zwilling — 39th place, 800 meter run, 2:03.69
- Sean Leahy — 18th place, discus, 123-06.00
