Police: Suspect Stole Envelope of Cash at Lankenau Hospital

Lower Merion police say a man pocketed an envelope of money mistakenly left behind at Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood.

Lower Merion police are searching for a man who earlier this month allegedly walked away from Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood with somebody else’s envelope filled with cash.

Police say that the victim was at Lankenau Hospital on May 4 for an appointment with a Franklin Mint Credit Union envelope containing money in her purse.

While in the main lobby of the hospital, the victim’s mother held the cash and subsequently removed it from her purse while looking for her car keys. She had placed the envelope on the bench and then walked away without retrieving the envelope, according to police.

The report says that she realized the money was missing an hour later, but when she returned, the envelope was missing. Security video allegedly shows a man entering the lobby, sitting down on the bench and picking up the envelope.

He then walks to the counter, opens the envelope and then walks away without turning it over to staff or security.
