Free Rita's Ice on Wednesday for First Day of Spring

The chain has locations throughout Philadelphia and Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties.

Wednesday marks the first day of spring, which is accompanied each year by a day of free water ice at Rita's locations in the Philadelphia area.

The company will give out free cups of its signature treat from noon to 9 p.m. Last year, 1.2 million were served at its locations nationwide, the company announced.

Another location is coming soon. Rita's at 500 West Chester Pike in Havertown is due to open Thursday, March 28, according to its website.
