NARBERTH, PA — Ricklin's Hardware in Narberth was a staple for Main Liners looking to get supplies, materials, tools, and more to keep their homes and more in good shape. It closed in early 2018 after more than 100 years of serving the area.

Now, a former manager is asking for the community to back his efforts to make a documentary film on the store.

Former Ricklin's manager Michael O'Donnell is getting ready to make "If These Floors Could Talk."

Here's what O'Donnell's goal for the film is:

In so many places across the country, stories similar to that of Ricklin’s Hardware have been told, are currently being told, or will be told. There is such immense value in a neighborhood hardware store, but their numbers are shrinking. My intention with this film is not to point fingers or assign blame to one cause or another as there is a plethora of potential causes for the closing. Instead, I intend to focus on the multitude of values that a local hardware store brings to a community, essentially using the story of RIcklin’s as a case study of this belief.

O'Donnell launched a Kickstarter crowd funding campaign to help him bring his vision to reality.

He's seeking $12,000 to complete the film, saying that is his estimated minimum needed to complete the film.

He said any excess will go towards hiring outside help to make an even better finished product and maybe even expanding the film's scope.

As of publication, 27 people have contributed more than $2,220 to the project.

This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by 5:25 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019.
