Longtime Bala Cynwyd Firefighter Dies At 87

Frank Lutz served the Union Fire Association for nearly 70 years up to his death, according to the fire company. Services are Wednesday.

BALA CYNWYD, PA — A longtime member of the Union Fire Association died after a brief illness and a lifetime of community service.

Frank Lutz died at 87 on Oct. 20, according to the fire company.

He joined the organization in 1954 and served it until his death.

A lifelong resident of Belmont Hills, Lutz was also a Lower Merion Commissioner for 20 years, the fire company said.

He is preceded in death by his devoted wife Mary C. Lutz and survived by children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and siblings.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:55 a.m. Wednesday at the St. John Vianney Church in Gladwyne, with a mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Belmont Hills Fire Company located at 4 S. Washington Avenue, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
