Montco Declares Code Blue as Temperatures Plummet

A Code Blue Cold Weather Emergency has been declared for Montgomery County starting Thursday evening and going into next week.

Forecasters predict a “harsh arctic outbreak” this Valentine’s Day weekend, bringing a chance of snow Saturday and a five-day stretch of brutal cold.

Forecasters say it will be the coldest weather streak the region has seen since January 2004.

The Code Blue begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, and goes through 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17.

A Code Blue Cold Weather Declaration is made in Montgomery County when the combination of air temperature and wind chill is anticipated to be 20 degrees or less.
