Narberth Ambulance Assistant Chief Receives Lifesaving Award
Conshohocken Borough gives Narberth Ambulance Assistant Chief of Operations and others a lifesaving commendation
Narberth Ambulance is pleased to announce that Bill Weber, Assistant Chief of operations at Narberth Ambulance, has received a commendation from the Borough of Conshohocken for his life-saving efforts during an emergency incident which occurred late 2023.
On November 1 at 5:30 p.m. police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Fayette Street and West Avenue in response to a report of two unconscious individuals in a vehicle. Both passengers were removed from the vehicle and immediately assessed and found to be a victim of an opioid overdose. A.C Weber, Detective William Walter and citizen Brianna Hoskins rendered life-saving aid to the front seat passenger while Police Officers Xavier Perez and Montowski and citizen Mary Jean McQuirns rendered life-saving aid to the driver, administering two doses of Narcan nasal spray. Narberth Ambulance staff members AJ Schifferli (Medic) and Pierce Flanagan (EMT) transported the patients to the hospital.
“Narcan rapidly reverses the effects of an opioid overdose,” said Weber. “While we hope incidents like this never occur, we must be prepared.”

In 2023, the number of overdose deaths in the United States was a record high of 112,000. Narcan can be safely administered by the average citizen and because of the increased rate of opioid deaths, it has become readily accessible and able to be purchased over the counter at any pharmacy.
This incident led to the realization that Conshohocken’s Narcan supply was low, so Weber immediately contacted Montgomery County Public Safety and within the hour, the Borough had a full supply.
