Police: Bank Robber Hurts 3 in Bala Cynwyd

A man was in custody Tuesday afternoon after injuring three people at the Bala Cynwyd Citibank, claiming he intended to rob it and then fleeing, Lower Merion police said.

More than a dozen police cars and an ambulance were on scene just after 3 p.m. at City Avenue and Presidential Boulevard. Superintendent Michael McGrath said a man assaulted three people inside the bank, one of whom needed to be hospitalized.

Sometime while the man was creating a disturbance, he made comments about wanting or planning to rob the bank, McGrath said. He fled the bank and was apprehended nearby.

Charges have not been finalized and the man has not yet been identified.
