Township: TVs, Monitors No Longer Permitted at Transfer Station

Starting next year, commercial trash vehicles will not be allowed to dispose of waste at the transfer station, Lower Merion Township said.

Lower Merion Township has entered into a five-year contract with Covanta Plymouth Renewable Energy LP, the township said.

According to the township:

Because Montgomery County will dissolve the Waste System Authority (WSA) effective Dec. 31, 2014, Lower Merion Township has entered into a five-year contract with Covanta Plymouth Renewable Energy LP for the hauling and disposal of waste collected by the township, from the Township Transfer Station (1300 Woodbine Ave., Penn Valley).

As a result, effective Jan. 1, 2015, commercial trash vehicles (except for those of Lower Merion Township and Narberth Borough) are no longer permitted to dispose of waste at the transfer station. All other commercial waste haulers must use an alternate trash disposal facility. Also, construction debris cannot be disposed of at the transfer station (see list below for alternative sites).

In addition, effective Dec. 24, 2014, televisions and monitors will no longer be accepted at the township’s transfer station. Montgomery County will periodically be hosting events for the disposal of electronic waste at various locations throughout the County.
