Tregaron Road Designated Capt Thomas E Royds Way

Lower Merion Commissioners proclaimed the Bala Cynwyd road has been designated Thomas E. Royds Way in honor of the late firefighter.

BALA CYNWYD, PA — Thomas Royds died July 24, 2021, at mile marker 335 on Interstate 76 west after being struck by a driver who pleaded guilty to third-degree murder in connection with his death recently.

Royds was a firefighter with the Union Fire Association of Bala Cynwyd and was on duty when he was struck by Jacqueline Walker, 63, of Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, at about 3:23 a.m. that day.

Now, Lower Merion Township has designated a local road as Capt. Thomas E. Royds Way.

The township's board of commissioners Wednesday made a proclamation for the designation of Tregaron Road in Bala Cywnyd.
