5 Ways to Enjoy Summer in Baldwin-Whitehall

Movie, swimming, car cruise and more.

There's no excuse to stay inside—OK, air conditioning sometimes—during a summer in Baldwin-Whitehall.

Here are five great summer activities—all outside—to enjoy around our district.

1. The Caste Village Car Cruise offers a great atmosphere and deejay every Sunday, March through October, weather permitting, outside of Frisch's Restaurant from 4 to 8 p.m.

2. The Baldwin (hours) and Whitehall (hours) municipal swimming pools are both big and both beautiful. Need I say more? OK, I will. There's a free community night-swim at the Baldwin Borough Swimming Pool this Saturday from 6:15 to 8:15.

3. There'll be one more Caste Village outdoor movie showing this year. You can catch Escape from Planet Earth on Aug. 10, starting at 9 p.m. It's free!

4. Whitehall Borough's annual 5,000-meter race and Community Day celebration will be held on Aug. 24. This year's theme is "Celebrate Pittsburgh."

5. The 2013 Farmer's Market is under way at Caste Village. The event runs every Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. through Sept. 30.
