Bensalem Felon Tried To Sell 'AR-Style' Rifle: Police (ICYMI)

He was arrested Tuesday after leading police on a chase in the area of Street Road and Interstate 95.

BENSALEM, PA — A convicted felon from Bensalem was arrested Tuesday after police say he tried to sell an assault-style rifle that, by law, he is not allowed to possess.

Bensalem Police and FBI agents arrested Patrick Gale, 34, as they say he was preparing to go to a meeting to sell what they described as "an AR-style rifle."

The investigation in the case began when detectives got information that Gale was trying to illegally sell the rifle for $1,500. On Tueday, they saw him in front of an address on Murray Avenue loading a large duffel bag into his car prior to the meeting.

Bensalem officers tried to make a traffic stop of his car at Street Road and Interstate 95, but Gale tried to get away. During a brief pursuit, Gale's Saturn Vue struck two civilian vehicles and a marked Bensalem Police car, police said.

While he was being chased, police say, Gale threw the duffel bag out of his car. He eventually crashed into a curb along the rear of Franklin Mills Circle and couldn't go any further. He tried to run at that point, but was quickly caught, according to police.

The duffel bag was found. Police say it contained the rifle, loaded with 16 .223 rounds.

A later search of the home where Gale was staying uncovered a 2017 Honda motorcycle that had been reported stolen in Philadelphia.

Gale was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, illegal transfer of a firearm, recklessly endangering another person, fleeing police and other offenses. He was arraigned by District Justice Gallagher and sent to Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of 10 percent of $400,000 bail.
