Man Wanted For Stolen Firearm In Bensalem

Bensalem Police seek a Philadelphia man after a search warrant recovered a loaded black Glock 17 semi-automatic handgun in his car.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA —Bensalem Police are seeking a 29-year-old Philadelphia man after issuing an active arrest warrant for a stolen firearm.

A police officer spotted a vehicle with heavy tint at 10:45 a.m., on Jan. 31 around Knights Road and Plum Avenue. The gray Nissan Pathfinder traveling southbound on Knights Road observed heavy tint on the vehicle's windows, including the front windshield, a tinted license plate cover where the registration was not visible, and no inspection stickers.

The officer conducted a traffic stop for the violations.

As the officer spoke with the driver, Malique Davis, 29, Oakland Street, Philadelphia, he was evasive and nervous and made numerous inconsistent statements. The officer also observed indicators of the possible presence of narcotics.

A drug-sniffing K9 was called to the scene and alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics.

Davis was released from the scene, but his vehicle was towed to the Bensalem Township Police Department so that the officer could obtain a search warrant.

During the search of the vehicle, Bensalem Police recovered a loaded black Glock 17 semi-automatic handgun that was hidden behind the window control switch panel of the driver's side door.

The firearm was checked through the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and had been reported stolen.

A check of Davis's criminal history revealed that he was precluded from possessing a firearm by law. Malique Davis was charged with Persons Not to Possess a Firearm, Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Receiving Stolen Property, and traffic offenses.

Davis was contacted by police and refused to turn himself in on the active warrant.

Police said that anyone who sees Davis should not approach him should call 911 immediately and report his location to police.
