BRYN MAWR, PA — The Central Park five case, which ended with five young men being wrongfully convicted of a rape in New York City's Central Park back in 1989, was one that caught the nation's eye.

Only years later did the five young men — Raymond Santana Jr., Kevin Richardson, Antron McCray, Korey Wise, and Yusef Salaam — find some sense of justice after the man who committed the crime confessed to it and his DNA matched with that found at the scene.

Year's later in 2012, Ken Burns, his daughter Sarah Burns, and her husband David McMahon released "The Central Park Five" documentary about the case.

Tickets are $12.50 for general admission, $10 for seniors and students, and $8 for BMFI members.

All proceeds from this screening will benefit the PA Innocence Project, which seeks to exonerate wrongfully convicted people. Tickets are available at the Box Office during operating hours or online at the film institute's website here.

After the film, Nilam Sanghvi, Legal Director at the PA Innocence Project, will join director Burns for a conversation.

Burns made this gripping documentary with her father Ken Burns and husband David McMahon based on her book "The Central Park Five: The Untold Story Behind One of New York City’s Most Infamous Crimes," which will be for sale at BMFI from Main Point Books.

Filmmaker Ava DuVernay adapted this devastating case for her Emmy Award-winning limited series, "When They See Us," in 2019.

Bryn Mawr Film Institute is located at 824 Lancaster Ave. in Bryn Mawr.
