Burglar Hits 3 Mt Airy Businesses: Philadelphia Police

Police said Evo Brick Oven Pizza, High Point Cafe, and Meleani Cafe were all broken into in the early morning hours of Thursday, Aug. 4.

MT. AIRY, PHILADELPHIA — Police are looking for a man who broke into several Mt. Airy-area businesses and stole various items.

According to Philadelphia Police, a man broke into Evo Brick Oven Pizza, 277 W. Mt. Pleasant Ave., at about 12:30 a.m. Thursday last week.

Police said security footage showed the man breaking into the business through the basement door.

After getting inside, he took two safe and broke into a cash register, taking about $8,000 total, police said.

Then at about 2:30 a.m. that same morning, the man was seen breaking into High Point Cafe, 602 Carpenter Lane.

Video showed the man walking to and from the cafe with a cash register.

Police said $2,100 was stolen from the cafe.

He was seen driving south in a dark sedan.

Lastly, police said Meleani Cafe, 6734 Germantown Ave., was broken into.

While police said there was no video footage of the incident, the same method of entry was used and the cash register was broken into.

Police described the suspect as a black man with a medium build who was wearing black sweatpants, a white t-shirt, white sneakers, and a black surgical mask.
