Children Locked in Basement Rescued by Fire Department
Four children were allegedly punished by their mother who locked them in the basement of their Kensington home overnight.

An act of discipline in the Kensington section of Philadelphia may have gone too far over the weekend, according to police.
A single mother faces charges of endangering the welfare of a child after her four children had to be rescued from their locked basement on Atlantic Street, according to Philly.com.
CBS Philly reports that firefighters entered the house through a second floor window Sunday afternoon and removed a 13-year-old boy, 12-year-old girl, 10-year-old girl and a nine-year-old girl from the basement, where their mother allegedly locked them Saturday night as punishment.

The mother has not yet been identified, and the children showed no injuries. Authorities took them to St. Christopher’s Hospital for evaluation, according to reports.
