Philly Declares Snow Emergency As Of 9 P.M. Monday For Tuesday Snow

The School District of Philadelphia is closed Tuesday, too.

Philadelphia will be placed under a snow emergency starting at 9 p.m. Monday for Tuesday's winter storm which means residents need to be aware of various changes throughout the city during the day.

Additionally, the School District of Philadelphia is closed Tuesday.

Citizens who are moving their cars from snow emergency routes should park as far from the corner of the street as possible, as the city said vehicles parked too close to the corner get in the way of turning snow plows.

Vehicles illegally parked on snow emergency routes after midnight tonight will be subject to ticketing and towing.

If your vehicle is moved, call 215-686-SNOW to find it. Residents should not call 911 to locate moved vehicles.

The city is urging citizens who must travel Tuesday to use extreme caution and plan for extra travel time to ensure safety.

The city has also cancelled trash collection Tuesday. Anyone who normally has trash collected Tuesday will have to wait until next week for collections.

The city said it will determine the status of Wednesday's collections on Tuesday as plowing continues.
