PHILADELPHIA — Trash and recycling collections are set to resume Wednesday in Philadelphia, officials said Tuesday.

Due to the winter storm, collections for Monday and Tuesday were canceled. This allowed sanitation crews to assist with snow removal efforts.

Residents whose collections occur Monday and Tuesday should hold their materials for collection on Monday and Tuesday next week. However, residents can take their materials to one of the city's Sanitation Convenience Centers, which opened for normal operations Tuesday. The centers are open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Residents whose normal trash day is Wednesday must set their materials out for pickup in front of homes at the curb. However, delays should be expected as crews navigate snow and ice.

Driveway collections have been suspended for the rest of this week to prevent sanitation trucks from getting stuck in compacted snow in driveways.
