Public Sector Picnic and Everything Else You Need to Know About Wednesday

Everything you need to know about Wednesday, July 31, in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy.

Here's everything you need to know about Wednesday, July 31.

Picnic and Concert: The Chestnut Hill Community Association will host a picnic and concert for area police, firefighters and postal workers.  The picnic is free for those folks, and residents can pay eight dollars to enjoy the food.  The picnic and concert will be held in Pastorious Park on July 31, starting at 6 p.m.

Drumming ClassesI'll let the organizers describe this one: Adults on their own welcome or kids 10 and up accompanied by an adult. Each week Shawn brings a variety of global percussion instruments and participants learn different rhythms and techniques from around the world.  The class opens awareness about the world and allows individuals to express themselves through drumming, dance, songs, and working together to share in the "rhythm."  All levels welcome.  Drums will be provided, or bring your own if you wish. Pre-registration and payment required.  Contact program@germantownjewishcentre.org or 215.844.1507 x19 for more info and rate details. Class continues for 4 weeks beginning July 31

This day in history: On July 31, 1961, Fenway Park hosts the first every major league baseball game.  The game was called in the ninth inning due to rain, but it was still a better finish then what happened in 2002.

Traffic:

Weather: Experts say that Wednesday will be warmer than Monday or Tuesday, but it should still generally be nice until potentially heavy rain rolls in on Thursday.
