Traffic Alert: Obama in Philadelphia Thursday

There could be a lot of traffic in Philadelphia on Thursday and Friday: President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will be in town.

House Democratic lawmakers will be holding a policy retreat at the Society Hill Sheraton, Politico said.

The three-day retreat, where House members will set their legislative agenda for the 114th Congress, will be Jan. 28, 29 and 30, Politico said.

Obama will speak on Thursday, Jan. 29; Biden will speak on Jan. 30.

Local lawmakers are eager to give the leader of the free world an inside look at the City of Brotherly Love, The Philadelphia Inquirer said. U.S. Rep. Brendan Doyle (D-Pa.) told the Inquirer he’s hoping to arrange a trip to Independence Hall.

For security reasons, Secret Service never releases a presidential or vice presidential motorcade route in advance. However, temporary road closures should be expected and traffic congestion should be expected as the 45-vehicle presidential motorcade moves through the city.
