Cranberry Auto Repair Shop Owner Facing Criminal Charges

The mechanic allegedly charged people for repairs that were not made, and rented out vehicles he was supposed to be fixing.

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA — A repair shop owner faces charges of renting out customers' vehicles and driving them around when he was supposed to be working on them. Keith Smith also is accused of taking money for repairs that were not made.

Smith is the owner of Oilology on Route 228. Pennsylvania State Police have charged him with theft by deception, receiving stolen property and unauthorized use of vehicles.

WPXI-TV reported that 4,688 miles were illegally put on one victim's car while Smith had it. A second victim told police Smith had her car for four months and 1,333 miles were put on her car.

Smith unlawfully rented the second victim seven different vehicles, including the first victim’s car, according to WPXI.
