Cranberry Seeks Input On Playground Renovations

Have any thoughts on what the new playground area should look like? Township officials would like to hear them.

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA - Big changes are in store for the 18-year-old playground adjacent to the township’s community waterpark in North Boundary Park. The renovations will result in three play areas, each designed for children of different age groups.

But various aspects of the project, including the play areas’ specific features and colors, have not been finalized and township officials want your input. There will be two meetings at the waterpark on Aug. 15 for children and adults to provide their opinions on what the $350,000 quarter-acre park should look like.

The design session for children will occur at 2:30 p.m. while the adult planning meeting will take place at 6 p.m. The information provided that day will be used to make final decisions on the playground’s features. Those interested in participating should contact township parks and recreation director Pete Geis at 724-776-4806, ext. 1127.

Adult volunteers are needed for the playground’s scheduled October 4 construction. The work will occur under the direction of Kaboom!, a national organization that has supervised volunteer community-built playground projects throughout the country, including Cranberry’s own AE Skatepark in 2005.
